MotoGP 2016: unforgettable moments in time


16 GP's in 13 countries and 4 continents, 15,000 km at more than 300 kph, a team of 30 and 1 rider who took 4 podiums and 2 wins, for seventh overall place in the rankings and recognition as Top Independent Team rider. That's the overview of Motomondiale 2016, with Custom taking part as Official Sponsor of Lucio Cecchinello's LCR Honda Team, with British rider Cal Crutchlow in the saddle.

The season was full of excitement and unforeseeable challenges: but what will we never forget about this Motomondiale 2016?


Custom was Event Title Sponsor at the Italian GP for the LCR Honda Team competing in MotoGP?. This was our first #CustomExperience 2016, an exclusive experience dedicated to the clients, dealers and partners of Custom SpA, who lived the excitement of competing with the very special LCR Honda team.

Not only could they admire the official bike, in its Custom Phone livery, at close range, but our guests were also able to enjoy paddock tours, a guided visit to the BOX, use of the Shuttle X5 at the side of the track, and training sessions with Lucio Cecchinello, rider Cal Crutchlow and the whole LCR Honda Team.

The event at Mugello was very well attended, with 152,443 spectators present at the track. The Italian TV audience was the second largest ever for a GP, with worldwide viewing in 106 countries.


But that isn't the end of the Custom Experience! Custom has also organised something very exclusive for the second Italian stage of the MotoGP at Misano.

More than 1500 people registered with the Custom Experience Contest, which ran through the summer of 2016 and saw the participation of Motomondiale enthusiasts as well as many others. Prizes included 10 Custom Venere smartphones, and the first draw featured a paddock pass with LCR Honda Hospitality at the San Marino and Riviera di Rimini GP. The announcement on Facebook and Instagram was viewed 1,834,000 times, with more than 517,000 views in Italy. The eleven lucky winners were drawn in September, and the paddock pass winner was hosted by the LCR Honda Team at Misano - a genuine #CustomExperience!


His win at the Czech Republic GP was Cal Crutchlow's first in the Premier Class of Motomondiale. A memorable day, experienced in person by Carlo Stradi, President and CEO of Custom, at the Brno track together with his son Giulio Stradi, Director Marketing and Sales for the Custom Phone division. His triumph was more than well-deserved: the track, wet from a morning downpour, gave everyone difficulties except for Cal, who came in first ahead of the legendary pair of Rossi and Marquez.

His second splendid win was on the other side of the world, at Philip Island, three races before the end of the championship. This time too, the weather was unfavourable, but it didn't frighten away the British rider or his fans, who had been up since dawn to see the spectacle.


The LCR Honda team took us behind the curtains and guided us through this adventure, transmitting their enthusiasm throughout the championship, the best ever for LCR Honda in the premier class. Making your guests feel at home while dealing with the challenges of a motorcycle championship is no small achievement.
