On that occasion, Custom launched ID RANGER, the ID card reader and scanner designed to optimise both security and efficiency in mobility: a significant innovation in terms of security that effectively improves the passenger journey. It is an integral part of the wider range of Custom printers for the ATI sector (Airport Transport Industry): the technology on which this solution is based is not only customised but also fully RFID-Ready. During PTE 2019, Custom illustrated the latest developments in boarding passes and baggage, as it is already a leader in CUSS (Common Use Self-Service) and CUPPS (Common Use Passenger Processing System) printing solutions and compliant with all Airport Integrator platforms.

As they concern the mobility of objects (baggage) and people (passengers), these solutions are designed in a way that makes them applicable in other sectors too, such as retail of various sizes and logistics and industrial environments. The Group's engineers, led by Alberto Campanini, Co-Founder of Custom together with Carlo Stradi, have introduced a number of innovations that have made a difference for both customers and passengers, who today can complete check-in in different ways: at self-service kiosks, at the desk and so on.

Among the features offered by Custom, one that particularly stands out is that all products are RFID-ready. In addition, there is the so-called "blind loading" (meaning that paper can be loaded so easily that the user can do it at a glance without looking at the printer), "multi-feed" (the ability to load three types of tickets into the printer at the same time, so the user does not have to change paper if an economy or first-class passenger arrives at the desk) and direct RFID printing on baggage tags (which allows suitcases to be tracked along their entire journey, minimising the risk of loss or late delivery, security included).

In addition, Custom has also introduced the TK862, the only compact airport printer that combines a metal casing, high speed and a refined design, ensuring functionality and reliability together with a lower TCO (Total Cost of Ownership).

Alessandro Mastropasqua, Communications Manager of Custom Group, emphasised: "At a time in history when technological evolution is driving practically every sector, I was struck to see that in the ATI sector the gap between tomorrow's technology and today's is small, if not almost non-existent. All the main players in the sector presented and illustrated the projects they have developed, testifying to unstoppable technological progress. Custom Group chose to present its entire RFID-Ready range and its latest device, ID RANGER, created to improve security and efficiency in mobility. An innovation never seen before: more security and profiling to improve the passenger journey."

Gabriele Ruggieri, Strategic Development, Marketing and Sales Manager of Custom Group, commented: "PTE was a success. Custom showcased the world's largest range of boarding pass and bag tag printers, all RFID-ready, an area in which Custom has vast experience, having supplied DELTA with RFID printers at all the international airports where DELTA operates. Custom offers all airlines technological solutions to keep pace with IATA Resolution 753 by adopting printers that encode the RFID chip during printing, as well as portable external readers. At PTE, we presented the first colour printer with innovative LED technology for printing colourful, eye-catching tickets and vouchers. Last but not least, the ID RANGER portable reader for scanning passports and cross-checking them with passenger biometric data, all on the move."
